Born in the wrong skin? is it wrong to wish you were a different race?

Sometimes i feel like i was born in to the wrong skin.Im 14 years old and im black. but i am quite different from other young girls my own race.i LOVE music,i listen to mainly rock,i have my hair cut short and dyed red at the tips,i am consitered "emo" and "scene".and i have a very different taste in guys.but i don not the kind of attation from the guys im instreted in (the ones consitered "emo" "scene") im just there "friend" or im just like a "sister". and sometimes i just think that if i were born white all my problems would be solved.IS IT WRONG TO WANT TO BE A DIFFERENT RACE?

Born in the wrong skin? is it wrong to wish you were a different race?
Well since humans are just one race, What race you want to become into? A cow, a chicken? You have to learn to live that life you have and to accept your self in the way that you are, if you don't do it like that you'll be making the wrong decisions always about different aspects of life.
Reply:It is just the age you are now, it will change. My daughter is bi-racial and she is emo all the way, it has nothing to do with race it is an attitude. don't think race has a thing to do with it.
Reply:Blacks dying their hair is nothing new and being white is never going to solve your problems. Everyone has problems of their own including whites! There is nothing wrong with you, just be yourself because you won't be happy if you're forcing yourself to change for others. I'm black and I like rock music and I like races of all colors. Just to let you know your a human being and no one is the same.
Reply:Girl, you are beautiful the way you are. We all admire qualities from other races (at least I do), but at the end of the day I'm proud of who I am. You are young and going through a lot. There are a lot of negetive stereotypes aimed towards african-americans, but now it's up to you to show those that are not from your race that you are not that way. I think african american women are some of the most beautiful women I have seen. We all want what we can't have don't we? Haha. Stay true to your Self and everything will be ok. ((hugs))
Reply:Hang in there kiddo,

You will do great in life.

You sound like you got a good personality and that is a very important thing to have.

" We all want to be different sometime are another"
Reply:The fact that you don't "act black" might make you a good "bridge" between different types of people. Just keep doing what you want to do and being who you want to be.
Reply:You sound beautiful the way you are. My friend sounds alot like you except she never felt that way about her race. Shes always comfortable about herself. You sound very uniqe and i don't think you should want to be another race because you can't, work on what you can do in life to make you feel better about yourself. In time, I think you'll find that guy that doesnt look at you as just a "sister" or "friend". He'll be just what your looking for.
Reply:It's embarrassing when Black people come onto this forum to air their ignorance and insecurities. A public forum is not the place to come because you embarrass other Black people and the road has been hard anyway for most Black people anyway in this country and elsewhere just to have you come up here and spread your inferiorities about your displeasure in being Black. You're most likely not even Black.

Please do us all a favor and disappear, weirdo.
Reply:You sound like you have a good head on your shoulders and have normal feelings about yourself....you are not wrong to want to be different ...every person during their lives have thoughts about some part of their body...or their skin like you mentioned...wishing it was different...it's really not what is on the outside of you....but what is inside that counts.....many famous people were not white....but brown or black....and they accepted themselves for what they were..or are.....one day you will start feeling proud of your skin...and who you are...have you thought about getting some books to read about other people like yourself how they worked hard to be who they are....do you know about Mandella? Look at him!

I don't think he would want to be white...do you? He stands for so many good things....you have a wonderful culture...a wonderful history....there are so many things the African people have given to the world....if you start reading about your people...you will start feeling proud of yourself and of them...I'm part Italian and English and I'm always reading and learning about my people and so proud of what they did during their lives....I'm part of them even if I never met many of them....In closing....you are not odd to think the way you are thinking now at 14 ..it's a time of your life when you are changing from a child to a young women and you have many thoughts about yourself and wanting to be accepted....as you age everything will become more clear what you believe in and who you want to be...accept the fact you will always be the same person today and 60 years from now....God bless you and keep you healthy and strong...

Reply:Every tall girl I have met wish they were short.Every short girl I met wish they were tall. The list goes on and on. Wishing you were a different race is normal and all part of growing up. Being different from other girls just means you haven't found people like yourself. It takes time to develop into an adult and it sounds like you are on your way to becoming a wonderful introspective, adult who will see life as it is not as others want it to be.You cant change what you are but you can accept it and become a whole ,wonderful person. Being white is no better or no worse than being black. How you treat yourself and others is what matters.
Reply:If you have different tastes in music and guys and hair that doesn't mean you were born the wrong race. I'm a 17 year old black girl and i also like rock music and i like guys of different races but that doesn't make me less black than i already am, and that goes the same for you too.

But i know that there are a couple people who think its odd for a black person to listen to anything but rap and r%26amp;b, which is ridiculous but its very understandable(these genres are highly dominated by blacks). Alot of folks( particularily black) would look at a person (black) funny if he/she said that he/she liked to listen to for example The Beatles or some "non-black music" he/she would be thrown with a bunch of insults like "whitewashed" and etc. Its a shame that people can be so stupid and unfair like that but i dont let it affect the choices i make and the people i hang out with.

So i guess the question is, if its wrong to want to be a different race. Well, i think its normal for any human to be envious and want something so bad, but you have to know that some things that a person deeply desires is impossible to obtain. Even if you were to change your skin colour, you'd still be black in the inside. I think you should be happy with who you are. Be an example for those with ignorant minds. Show people that black people can be different and are different, some of us dont only listen to hip-hop and dress in that style. I hope you understand what I'm getting at, cuz i understand you! If you wanna talk some more email me :)
Reply:no it's not wrong, however it is pointless...u might as well accept urself for who u are
Reply:It is wrong to want to be a different race. God made you to be a black woman and to have the parents that you have. Every race is stereotyped in a way to behave a certain way but that is a STEREOTYPE. I'm glad that you're not playing into the stereotype and being yourself because you are an individual not a race, remember that!
