Does wearing makeup make your skin and eyes look worse naturally over time?

Because I've noticed that ppl who wear a lot of makeup when they're young look really old when they're older (older than those that didn't wear a lot of makeup), especially celebrities! It seems like the daily pulling and tugging of putting on and taking off makeup (especially the eye area), mixed with makeup remover, worsens the quality of skin and may loosen it; thus, give it more wrinkles. Also, the dry mascara coated on lashes and the chemicals for cleaning mascara daily just doesn't seem healthy for eyelashes.

Yeah! You will resemble a witch in 5 years, be prepared.
Reply:yes.
Reply:I think it all depends on the quality of the makeup and how much is used. It shouldn't cause problems if used sensibly and not overdone.
Reply:The reason why most women are obsessed with night creams and day lotions is that they try to repair the damage caused by all that tugging and pulling.

As for me, I try to avoid makeup as much as I can because, I'm too lazy to remove them properly afterwards. I stick to some lipstick only. But, if it's a special occassion, I obviously doll up.
Reply:Hmmm.. Personally, i've been wearing make-up for the last 12 years, my face seems fine, no skin problems but being in my 30's, i think everything including my face seems pretty much the same when i was 25. I'm sure its more than just tugging and chemicals in the make-up remover, one's diet and overall physical and mental condition applies. Not forgetting the environmental exposure.
Reply:Sorta, but there's always the choice of plastic surgery.
Reply:I think it depends on the skin. Some people's skin gets affected very quickly while others don't so it varies from girl to girl

Reply:This makes me think of the story about a photographer that Marlene Dietrich had liked. The next time he took her portrait she was not pleased. His answer, basically that he was years older than the last time he had taken her photo.
Reply:it really is the type of make up used. Celebrities usually use a very heavy foundation make up because they are under lights alot. I tell people they should never use liquid foundation make up unless you have a special event. Use a light tinted moisturizer and then mix that with a little more lotion with an good SPF or water to thin it out more. Covergirl and other brands push the idea of liquid makeup to young girls early. It is not needed. Those who are religious about using it find that as they get older their complexion is getting worse.

Smoking is another factor. Forget about what it does to your lungs, heart, vessels etc, it will wreck your complexion.

I have seen 22 year olds with more wrinkles on their face than many 40 year olds, people in their 30's who look like they are in their 50's. It takes a toll on the skin. Big time.

Also, when going to tanning beds or out in the sun....NEVER TAN YOUR FACE. Sunscreen...and lots of it.
Reply:I think it's possible that it does. Remember that celebrities wear the make-up much more thickly than the rest of us normally do, so they probably have more manipulating of their face. I have thought about this when I make up my eyes. However, I look SO much more attractive with eye make-up on, that it's worth the trade off. I wouldn't want to live the rest of my years without the eye make-up just to have my skin look a little better when I'm old. I'd miss out on looking my best while I'm young. I just try to be careful when applying and removing. One of my friends used to wipe a wet washcloth over her eyes - that's TERRIBLE! Use a good solvent that will dissolve without too much wiping.
Reply:I think it depends on what sort of makeup you wear. I wear a liquid foundation that has vitamins and chamomile in it, so it's good for your skin, and I never use makeup remover anyway, my facial cleanser takes the makeup off.

Reply:I notice allot of celebrities have very horrible skin when the take their makeup off. I don't know if they already have bad skin or the chemicals cause that. Personally I don't wear make because my skin is clear. Just a few molds under my eyes. I have long eye lash natural and I take care of my skin. By wash it in different skin products. I feel like a clown when I put on make up.
