Does wearing make-up damage your skin?

At school there is always 13 and 14 yr olds wearing make-up and i dont think its right to wear it soo young. SO if it damages your skin i think i could have reasons to get them not too for the health.

Does wearing make-up damage your skin?
Lots of makeup can clog your pores, but that is bad for you no matter what your age is!

There's also some debate that chemicals in traditional makeup are absorbed through your skin and can be toxic to your body (not everyone agrees though). However, I really doubt that wearing makeup at age 13-14 rather than waiting til age 16, 18, 20 or whatever you think is the proper age to wear makeup will make much of a difference during the entire course of your life! For example, say you wear makeup from age 16 to age 66 (just to make the math easy) -- that's 50 years. What's an extra 3 to start at age 13 instead of 16?

However, so far no one's found any health problems with wearing pure mineral makeup! It is made from all-natural ingredients and is safe for all skintypes. It doesn't clog your pores, irritate your skin (unless perhaps you're allergic to an ingredient) or have any other adverse side effects! It would perfectly safe to wear at any age.

BTW I don't think 13 or 14 is that young to wear a little makeup (although it's too young to really be piling it on IMO!) Age 13-14 is usually when people start to develop acne, so IMO there's nothing wrong with wearing a little bit of mineral or noncomedogenic (won't clog pores) makeup to hide the acne! Kids at that age usually have very delicate self-confidence so a little makeup can make a huge difference in how they perceive themselves and others (until they are old enough to realize that beauty isn't skin deep)! My mom let me start wearing minimal makeup at age 13, and she's pretty conservative about such things! But I suppose that's a topic for another question ;)
Reply:well it truly depends on what kind you wear. If you where cheap stuff [which they probably do if their 13 and 14] then yes, most likely they are damaging their skin.
Reply:Make-up dose not damage skin at all wear did you hear that.

i suggest that you just stop them from wearing eyeliner that would be so much better that way they can't look " trashy" and they can wear foundation so they can cover imperfections on there face that most teenage girls are insecure about.

hope that helps xo
Reply:ummm u think 13/14 year olds wearing makeup is young well here in australia i think everybody starts things early i kno kids who lost their virginity in primary school and a heap in year 7

well this is atleast in my school and the area my school associates with

and yes make up does damage ur skin

notice that people who wear heaps of makeup look disgusting without it and those who dont have radiant skin

i think it dries out ur skin
Reply:yes, because it covers your pores, and doesn't let them 'breathe.' But also, in the case of teenagers whose hormones are going crazy, and skin getting too oily it's even worse.

I still don't get how kids are allowed to wear make up to school in this country...
Reply:serpence which product!!
Reply:ya... sum do. Bt if it is o' gud company den only buy. You can gt tanned skin bcoz o' dem.
Reply:It doesn't so much as damage it it just stops your skin being able to breathe, like if someone puts on lots of foundation,it prevent air getting to the skin and can cause spots.

As for the 13 - 14 year olds, that is kinda young for them especially if they're going for the whole hog.I think that girls are trying to look older all the time even they're young like at 11!
Reply:it may give you spots and if they sleep with it on they will defo get spots and a rash

good look
Reply:check the ingredients list for allergy stuff, other than that not really... it can cause major acne though. convince them with that! :D
Reply:It can cause breakouts if the makeup is not applied to clean skin. If girls that young are wearing makeup they may be doing so to try and cover the horrors of teenage acne-this could help with covering the acne, but could complicate it if they are not using proper facial cleansers every day.
