Why does my skin quality improve after a night of binge drinking?

I have an oily complex skin, I exfoliate daily and moisturise, drink about 6 glasses of water a day, and eat my 5 a day. I dont drink mid week as a rule and dont smoke. I never really had really bad acne or whatever as a young teen; just reciently however over the last year or two (I'm 19 now) my skin quality went down hill. No massive scarring or enflamed areas just one too many zits and some minor marks developing over time. However over freshers week at uni even though I drank far to much (really a disgusting amount) my skin quality dramatically improved. Now I dont want to risk my skin if this was a one off fluke but it does help explain why guys who never look twice and drink loads seem to have perfect complextions. I dont intend to go out every night if it turns out it does have a positive effect, its more a question thats been bugging me for the past few days.

P.S. I do appreciate that binge drinking is reguarly reported as being a negative effect on skin quality.

maybe cuz youve got oily skin, and alcohol dries out your skin, makes it look more even toned.
Reply:It doesn't its just your eye sights worse.
Reply:it may look that way but inside it is damaging your body and eventually your complexion will be worse than you would like, you may have seen some who look drunk when they are not - some (not all) of such have done as you have described and this is the result. Fresh fruit loads of fresh air wash without soap (aqueous is good) and use a non astringent after shave and get your whole body ready for a healthy future.
Reply:I think you might well be a medical mystery...and you can use it to your advantage if you patent the technology!

;)
Reply:it probably dries it out. my skin also used to improve after this and would look good the next day (i don't drink anymore) but long term it did take it's toll.
Reply:prob just a random one off kinda thing!

but if it works-cool!

xx
Reply:Lol this happened to me too! Eventually your skin will return to the way it was but I think currently, because you have just had this one session after not drinking excessively for years, your body's defences against the alcohol are going to be pretty vigorous, and it will try and get rid of the alcohol via any means necessary.

Do you notice that you have been waking up with a sweaty face even though you don't feel physically warm? In my understanding, that's all the toxins being expelled from your body, giving it a temporary detox so to speak, hence the improvement in your skin.

It won't last forever though (trust me on this, I did try and my liver has yet to forgive me). Carry on with the bingeing and you weaken your body's defences, meaning that your skin (amongst other things...) will pay price.
