Hi, Im 15 and having problems with my skin. Finding the right products to use on my skin is difficult?

and I can't find the right foundation to suit. My skin is combination, very dry on the cheeks but oily in the t-zone. I recently bought Boots No.7 mousse foundation but it is making my skin worse. Any reccomendations on an affordable light oil-free foundation with effective coverage?

Also, I am allergic to Sodium Benzoate - a preservative used in foods and some beauty products - and if i eat foods with the chemical in it i take an allergic reaction. I bought Nivea Visage Young and it contains Sodium Benzoate. Would this cause irritation on my skin?

Thanks x

ask a pharmacy.
Reply:My friend had problems with his skin, so he went to the doctors who sent him to a dermatoligist (skin specialist) and they got him some special cream and it worked, but he still has skin problems. Don't know if that helps... If it gets bad, just see the docs. They can work out which cream is best for your skin.
Reply:Try proactive i hear that its works i've tried it and it does work

Reply:I have really sensitive skin, and totally overdid all the products when I was around your age. Avoid anything harsh or for "teenage" or "young"skin - they strip all the natural oils out. I seriously recommend the Simple range. Wash with the Face Wash morning and night, and once during the day if you must, and use their light day and heavier night moisturisers.

On any problem breakouts (inevitable as a teen, and still as an adult, I'm afraid!) you can use their face mask, or a tiny drop of tea-tree oil on a cotton bud, but I only do this once or my skin overreacts. I also use Oxy spot cream on spots, but again, not too often. Pop an ice cube in a clean flannel and apply to any of those big, hot throbby breakouts, and even a wet aspirin held against it can help bring down the inflammation before applying cover-up (if you must).

Use a clean, soft towel and pat your skin dry instead of scrubbing it. Try not to touch your face too much during the day as it spreads bacteria and messes up the oils again. And NEVER, NEVER use those Oxy pads, the chemicals are ridiculous!! I don't know about the SB allergy, but if you wouldn't eat it, I wouldn't put it on skin either! I was allergic to loads of products at that age, and found Roc skin bar good - quite pricey, but it lasts forever.

Your skin will be much, much better if you can bear to do without your beloved foundation. I save it for special occasions now!

Also, Holland and Barratts do a tablet of vitamins and minerals which help skin - ask them what they'd recommend. Smile more and relax, treat skin gently and naturally, and the rest will follow.

Best of luck
Reply:One word Clinque believe me there is one for you :)
Reply:try using a facial soap called fresh farmacy, a toner called tea tree water and a moisturiser called enzymion from lush. they use all natural products so they shouldn't upset your skin. once your skin has sorted itself out you should be able to use your foundation.

hope this helps xxx
Reply:if you can buy the ones from thehealth shops which don't have all these chemicals in them %26amp; care for your skin much better. One cream I used from Boots was really good, it's Boots Traditional range %26amp; it's with vitamin A%26amp;E.

I don't think you need to use foundation when you're 15! I'd just use some blusher (or light bronzer) without sparkly particles which makes the skin shine too much (I mean use a matte one). this will make you look fresher %26amp; healthy.

PS%26gt; if u must use foundation don't use mousse, it's not good consitenecy. use cream; Bourjois do good ones.
