My nephew has some undiagnosed skin issues?

My nephew is going to be 5 in August, and just recently all of this has started up.

His face swelled up, cheeks became red, ears chapped and peely. Swelling is gone, but redness is still there. He DOES have eczema.

Just a little bit ago he was playing in the back yard and my sister told him to take off his socks and shoes. It literally looked like there was a latex glove on his foot. It's like this gigantic blister, stretching from his big toe to the bend of his foot. There's a little bit of this peeling skin on the tips of his other toes too, and on his other big toe, the skin all around it is peeling off. It's happening to his fingers too.

He's also got severe chafing in his thighs. It almost looks like a really bad diaper rash.

He won't be seeing a dermatologist for a few weeks, but none of us have any idea what this could be. It's scaring him, and we are all baffled. My mom had something similar when she was young, but it was never this severe. Does anybody know what it could be?

sounds serious. Get him to a Dr. Even a walk in clinic. They can often get you in to see a specialist quickly and end this stressfull mystery.
Reply:I am really sorry for your nephew. Some skin conditions are so hard to identify and it always takes a long time to get in to the dermatologist.

Has he been taken to his regular Dr or pediatrician? I would start there while waiting for the other appt.

Has he started any new meds? or been introduced to new foods? Or got a new pet or been around any animals or swimming in natural water.

The skin peeling on his hands and feet sound like a fungus that they have creams for. (I am not a Dr. or health prof.)

It sounds like so many things. Face swelling and red sounds like an allergy. The blister on his foot, did he cut his foot or get a splinter or bite? And chafing on his thighs, are you sure its not some of the eczema. I would certainly try to keep him out of the sun as much as possible, and not have him rolling around in the grass or climbing trees. Has he gone to someones house where he may have been around something he isn't used to and may be allergic to, such as a pet? Has he had any problems breathing or wheezing?
Reply:The symptoms of Athlete foot include itching and burning feet. The skin frequently peels and, in particularly severe cases, there may be some cracking, pain and bleeding as well.

When the skin is injured by the fungus, bacteria can also invade the skin. These bacteria can cause a bad smell. Bacterial infection of the skin and resulting inflammation is known as cellulitis. This is especially likely to occur in the elderly, individuals with diabetes, chronic leg swelling, or who have had veins removed (such as for heart bypass surgery), and patients with impaired immune systems.

All Athlete's foot is, is a ringworm on the foot. It is easily sreared and looks different in places. use some clorox!
