Skin "rash" help, is it disease or sun damage?

my mother has lupus. there is only a 10% chance that i will get lupus and even less likely that it will be chronic. if i do get it then i will only get symptoms.

i'm still a teenager but i have a rash on my face shaped like the malar/"butterfly rash"

it makes my face look pink and when very close up, you can see that it looks like light spider veins.

i don't think it is lupus because it is not raised or itchy.

the problem is, UV rays hit you on the same place where the rash would, so the sun damage and rash would be in the same shape.

i wear a foundation to cover this up daily.

i use proactiv to keep my skin clear and it comes with a toner but it doesn't do anything to help my "sun damage",

but if i'm so young, i'm wondering how i could have sun damage like this already?

is there a way to fix this without going to a dermatologist or getting a procedure done?

what products would you recommend?

Skin "rash" help, is it disease or sun damage?
I think it really needs to be checked out professionally. The thing with lupus is that it can manifest in various ways, and your rash may appear different from another's.

You cannot just assume sun damage and self treat, get the rpofessional opinion before you try anything else;

Skin Cancer in the future?

I heard that there will be numerous cases of skin cancer in the coming future. Exactly why is this?

I mean, 30 or 40 years ago people went tanning on the beach. It this because more young people are using tanning beds? Or are the sun rays much stronger today?

Skin Cancer in the future?
because you touch yourself at night. thats why. sorry.
Reply:It probably mostly has to do with the ozone depletion. Without that ozone blocking the UV rays, it is easier to get burned and skin cancer. I am assuming that is what they are talking about.
Reply:Atmospheric changes...tanning salons....and also...30, 40 years ago being tan was only popular to teens. Now you see 40 year olds at tanning salons...

Skin Numbness?

I have a moderately-sized patch of skin on my back (left shoulder blade area) that goes numb every now and then, sometimes for days at a time...Sometimes it's only slightly numb and I get a tingling sensation when I touch, scratch, or put pressure on it, and other times it's completely numb (when I touch or scratch, I can't feel anything)...I have no idea what this could be, and it's a little scary sometimes because I'm only 20..too young to be falling apart already..lol...I was thinking that it may be some sort of nerve damage, but I'm not sure, and I've also never had any sort of injury or trauma to occur to that area....Anybody have any ideas as to what may be causing this?

Skin Numbness?
You should see a neurologist. He can do some test to determine what is wrong. Could be as simple as pinched nerves.
Reply:you should go to the doctor and have it checked out.

Skin problem number 2, help!?

I have keratosis pilaris, which are these weird bumps on my face, and they really really bug me. I think it could be caused by dryness of the skin as my parents lived in Singapore and Hong Kong (humid places).. I think I also may be aggrivating it as I'm in swim team. What do you think I should do? Scrubbing, milk baths, etc. I've tried them all and they don't work for me. I may be a little too young though for a chemical peel though.... HELP!

I didn't treat my skin allergy early, now what do I do about scars?

My skin is alleric to Nickel. First my ears got infected from piercings twice when I was young. Then in high school, I got a bad rash from wearing a silver watch.

Two years ago, it got worse: I get rashes on my stomach from jean studs and belt buckles. But my skin feels fine if I use hydro-cortison cream, bandaids, and cover up the jean studs/belt buckle with polish.

Well, I'm lazy, and just when my rashes are about to heal, I stop covering the studs and wearing band-aids. So the rashes have never completely healed. And I'm just now realizing that I've been fighting this for TWO YEARS.

And needless to say, I have scars. I know I need to see a dermatologist, but I can't afford to right now.

I'm ready to take this seriously and finally heal these rashes. How do I reduce the appearance of these scars on my own? And what type of professional treatments are available?

I didn't treat my skin allergy early, now what do I do about scars?
I never knew that scubing with loofas or cleaning with acne solution would help a scar since that's what some folks earlier suggested. I would say to obviously continue to cover with the bandaids, and then cocoa butter, preferable shea butter is best to help clear up scars. They have to be pure though no watered down mess. They sell 100% pure african shea butter on amazon. com for 9.95. It's great.
Reply:petroleum jelly could help.before you go to bed put some on the scars and the next morning when you take a bath, scrub it with a loofa.do this regulary and before you knew it, your scars are all gone

Weird Habit ========== Peeling Dead Skin ==============?

Does anybody else have the habit of peeling any kind of dead skin on their body that they see?

If I see ANY little piece of dead skin, I HAVE to peel it off.

A lot of the time, I end up bleeding.

Ever since I was young, I've done that.

My parents have told me too that my thumbs will end up getting infected or somethin'.

I'm so stubborn too.

I won't just get a nail clipper and cut it off.

I have to pull it off myself.

I do it on the sides of my thumbs. And if I see or feel a piece of really dry skin on my lips, I have to peel that too... and yes, it bleeds sometimes.

I'm weird. : /

Oh well. Anyone else do this?

Weird Habit ========== Peeling Dead Skin ==============?
I did that too. Then my toe got infected. For months, if anything any heavier than a sock touched it, I would feel like screaming, and tears would literally well up in my eyes. This was particularly fun since my 3-year-old is something of a klutz, and I had never realized before my toe hurt that bad how often he stumbled or otherwise stepped on that very toe. Also, I had just gotten a job with business dress, and I couldn't wear heels (and ALL my decent shoes were heels), so I had to get special permission to wear flip flops and later untied sneakers (when it got cold) with my dress clothes.

I no longer have the urge.

At the same time, my husband had the same kind of thing going on with his finger.

Keep this in mind, any time you pick until you bleed, you are opening your skin up for infection. The bleeding evidences a break in the skin. Since with this kind of thing, it can be just a tiny amount of bleeding, that actually makes it worse. With large injuries, you're really aware of them and keep them clean and covered. If you pick at your skin, have a teeny amount of bleeding then go about your life, you're not taking care of it the way you would if it were larger, but bacteria can get in there just as easily.

Keep clippers with you, and try to break the habit. It is a stupid reason to be in pain and have to go get medication because you refused to take care of your skin just so you could pick.

Also, if you have a lot of dead skin around your nails, particularly on your thumbs, you may very well have a vitamin deficiency. That's a symptom, but it's not the only thing suffering, so make sure you're taking a good multivitamin with lots of water (not soda, juice, tea or coffee).

For goodness sakes, don't purposely choose to pick when you're aware that you should be clipping it.
Reply:VERY WEIRD. NO I DON'T!
Reply:yes i do it

like on my lip or if i get a really bad sunburn and it peels its wierd
Reply:Umm, no but spmetimes I pick on my scab!!! =)
Reply:I have to admit that a few years ago, I had this thing about peeling the skin off the bottom of my heels. There were these huge calouses there and after I'd get out of the shower I just couldn't resist. I'm all better now, though.
Reply:I do it too, but on my toes. mostly my big toe. But i don't go to the point of bleeding.I know, i'm weird too.
Reply:I peel the skin on the tips of my fingers..usually from the cold they get very dry and start to peel.
Reply:Well if there is a sunburn or it is peeling for some other reasn I don't make layers peel if they arent if that is what you mean.
Reply:i used to do it all the time, i think it's something to do with anxiety...now i don't do it ever
Reply:this is embarrassing but kind of yes-I do sometimes!!

Oily/Dry skin for men?

Im a 20 year old young man, i have oily forehead, thats the only part that is oily, rest of my skin is dry, may be the main reason for that is that i live in a very hot and humid country, so if someone could recommmend me a solution?

Thanks

Oily/Dry skin for men?
Use an astringent on your face after cleansing to remove excess oils and cleansers, restore your skins pH balance and it will also help a moisturizer be more effective. Witch hazel, apple cider vinegar (diluted 1/2 and 1/2 with water) or Neutrogena Toner will not dry out your skin. Use a moisturizer on your face twice a day after cleansing and toning for the dryness. I like Neutrogena products because they are light, non-greasy and won't clog your pores. Neutrogena and Nivea also have skin care lines just for men but any facial care line will work.

Reply:eat healthy, work out, sweat, drink lots of water, these are all things that will help immensly.
Reply:I'm not a dermatologist so I would seek help there first. I did however suffer from severe acne when I was a teen. This is how I took care of mine: I would shower twice a day and let the warm water cleanse my pours of my skin (do not pick at your face no matter what / dirt and germs) but I only used a soap called Ivory on my face once a day, each time that I showered though I would put in flesh tone Clearasil and when I went to bed I would use stridex pad to remove any excess oils from my face but I used a clean stridex whenever I would wipe off the oils. I didn't have to wait to long to see results but I would say it took about a week to see a difference. Clean pillow cases a must to keep from bacteria getting into the pours. Give it a shot as it can't hurt (you have to stay with it if it's working for you) , Good luck!
Reply:you have some thing called KP which is a skin condition dont worry there are alot of people who have the same problem go on this website and see if it sounds familular

Reply:I'm in the same position as you, it really gets me down when I look in the mirror and see really red oily skin, I also have very pale skin under my eyes so I get asked a lot if I'm tired and if I dont get asked that I get asked if I'm sun burnt. Very depressing and can take away most of your self-esteem. These sound like signs of early rosacea and I've had some dermatologist tell me I have it and others say its just how I am. Whether this is true or not I've found that products like differin, accutane, tretinoin(vitamin A derivatives) don't work so well for our type of skin and only make it worse. I've been taking evening primrose oil 3 times a day for about 3 months and this seems to be starting to help, I also wash my face with a facial soap made specifically for sensitive skin(Clean%26amp;clear sensitive skin deep action cream cleanser), and then use aloe vera gel (stay away from lotions with alcohols). At night time I apply a thin layer of benzoyl peroxide over my face which seems to help a lot with the acne. I've also heard that diluted tea tree oil blotted on the face with a cotton ball can help, I tried it and it didn't seem to help me but its worth a shot. Any change you see will be over time though so don't expect overnight results... on the emotional level, its hard but just try and accept how you are and see the other things in life, one of my favorite quotes is "everything in life has beauty but not everyone sees it." I also limit the time i look in the mirror, standing there and fixating on what we don't like about ourselves only make things worse, so I comb my hair, brush my teeth and go. Remember you are not alone, its all about mindset, you are happy if you chose to be :-)

Why do I see so many 20something young male performers that look remarkably like my son?

My son, brn 1981 seems to have many lookalikes in the arts. At first I thought it a funny coincidence but it continues to excalate and now my curiosity is piqued. These young men are all medium to dark skinned caucasion, with slightly heavy brows, somewhat broad noses and surprisingly have similar voices. The first one I noticed was the kid from "Wonder Years" who's name escapes me. More and more have shown up over the years.

Is this just due to the homogenous blending of so many ethinic and racial roots, or is it a government /alien conspiracy? (kidding)

But I am serious about the rest of the question. BTW, my son is also in the arts.

Why do I see so many 20something young male performers that look remarkably like my son?
maybe get a dna test done to see if mich jagger is not the father.
Reply:its called advertising, they are selling a product, and right now the fad is people who look like your son. There are many other types out there, and the fads will swing at some point in reaction to the current one.
Reply:It's entirely subjective. Since your son is in the arts you are paying more attention to people in the arts. Now you notice that, "Hey, lot's of those guys look like my sonny boy." Lot's of them look like Gilligan or The Professor or The Skipper too but you have no reason to notice that.

Should Young Ladies dress more Conservative?

Ok on Dr.Phil today they were talking about young Ladies and the fact that their clothing is a bit too revealing like you can see too much skin and um other areas of their body especially the crotch and crack (think Sharon Stone basic instinct) how much influence do these singers movie stars and actress's these kids look up to play in this if they dressed more modestly would the effect trickle down to the young kids?

Should Young Ladies dress more Conservative?
It depends upon the country in which the person is living in, and also her upbringing by her parents.

I am an Australian (Anglo-Saxon) and I find that many girls in Australia, the US, Britain and other Western European countries dress too revealingly. I have also lived and worked in some Asian countries and the cultural attitudes are that a "decent girl" should dress conservatively. How conservatively depends upon the Asian country and its exposure to Western customs. Personally I like how the girls in Singapore and Hong Kong wear their clothes, which is a good compromise, or the country girls in Thailand and the girls in Cambodia which is more conservative.
Reply:All about how that young lady was raised, and what was considered to be "descent" in the household defines her dressing style.
Reply:This is where parents come into play. Parents get to decide, or should be the ones using good judgment when it comes to how their kids dress. The parents are the ones buying the clothes, so they should be the ones to put limits on what the kids can wear. I don't think movie stars have as much influence as parents do, or at least should have.
Reply:YES they should dress more conservative. It gives the impression they are not very moral and want guys to think sexually of them.

I saw a young lady recently with a push up bra that made her look deformed........not attractive at all.

Also the clothes designers make the clothes to look like something Brittany Spears wears or other stripper type stars.
Reply:Yes! i think Teens in this area should dress more conservative. There is way too many short short skirts. its horible! me, being 15. prefurable likes to were kakies (sp?) or a pair of jeans, with a non-revealing top.

Girls today are way to easy and slutty. Its absoulutly horrid : (

Finding my skin undertones?

How do I find out my skin undertones? I have light-medium brown hair and light blue eyes. When I was young, I never used to burn and now I tan in light sun and burn in heavy sun, and the burn will peel and turn into a tan. My veins look like they might be a mix of blue and green.

Where can I find this out? Will any makeup person at a makeup counter be able to tell me this? How much does it cost?

Finding my skin undertones?
You can try a makeup counter but they're not always good at it. Prescriptives insisted that I had cool undertones (probably because they assumed that *all* girls with blonde hair, blue eyes, and fair skin must be cool) but I actually have warm undertones! I currently wear a warm foundation with peachy-yellow undertones that is a PERFECT match for me, and I tend to look better in warm colors (specifically "Spring" colors if you're familiar with that colortyping system.)

A few tricks -- these are not full-proof but may give you some insight. Also keep in mind that you may answer "cool" to some questions but "warm" to others, and that's ok too! Grouping the entire human population into only two categories (warm vs. cool) isn't going to work because there are so many variations, so not everyone is going to be consistant with their answers.

1. If the veins on the inside of your wrist are blue you might be cool; if they are green you might be warm. (Mine are blue on my wrist but green everywhere else.... go figure!)

2. Do you look better in white (cool) or ivory/cream (warm)?

3. Do you look better in charcoal (cool) or chocolate brown (warm)?

4. Do you look better in light grey (cool) or camel (warm)?

5. Do you look better in fushia (cool) or bright tangerine orange (warm)?

6. Do you look better in fushia lipstick (cool) or orangeish-red (warm)?

7. Do you look better in silver jewelry (cool) or gold (warm)?

8. Do you look better in blue (cool ) or green (warm)?

Finally, here are a few quizzes that might help. These quizzes will tell you more info than just whether you are warm or cool, since there is more to color analysis than just warm vs. cool. These quizzes also usually consider whether you are clear vs. muted and/or high vs. low contrast to further narrow down your color type. But "Summer" and "Winter" are cool, while "Spring" and "Autumn" are warm.

http://www.donnafujii.com/store/index.ht... (Click Color Analysis Self Test)

http://www.stylemakeovers.com/colortest/...

A little more info:

Warm means you have yellow undertones, cool means you have pink undertones. However, extremely yellow undertones and olive tones (which are kind of greenish-yellow) can still be considered cool. Think of lemony yellow vs. golden yellow -- the lemony yellow would be cool while the golden is warm. That's why many Asians are cool even though they have yellow undertones.

Clear means you have little to no beige or brown in your skin (you probably have peach tones instead). Muted means you do have brown or beige.

For contrast, imagine taking a black and white picture of yourself. In the picture, if your skin, eyes, and hair are all a similar shade of grey, then you're low contrast. If some elements are very dark while others are very light, you're high contrast.
Reply:I read somewhere that you need to get a piece of pure white paper and hold it up to your face in natural daylight. Do not have any artificial lights on and have someone with you to help determine what your undertones are. You can hold up various shades of red, pink and coral. The undertones of a winter complexion is blue. I'm not positive of the others. Your Avon rep. may be able to help you with this. I don't know about makeup counters. There is a book called "Color Me Beautiful" or something like that. It has all sorts of hints %26amp; help. Merle Norman studios may also be of assistance.
Reply:any makeup counter at the mall will be able to tell you, i went shopping at MAC and they told me i have cool undertones. Its free. Cool undertones mean that you don't have any hint of red to your complextion and is most usual in Asian women, warm undertones however, have a pink hue and is most found in Caucasian people.
Reply:hmmmm there's a good guide at this link that might help you a little.

Why is my skin looking so old?

EXTREMELY dry skin (left foot) PLEASE HELP!!!?

My left foot has EXTREMELY dry skin. It cracks when I walk %26amp; is so painful for the past 2 nights it has woke me out of my sleep. Every step I take sends the pain shooting thru the arch. I try to rub lotion on it but it does not seem to help. I think the skin maybe too hard that it does not penatrate. Has anyone delt with this before %26amp; have anything they can suggest for my problem. I am a mom of 3 young children so I am ALWAYS on my feet. This is unbearable. Thank you in advance.

EXTREMELY dry skin (left foot) PLEASE HELP!!!?
Cracked heels are called heel fissures and it's very common. The good news is they can be healed. The bad news is not a single cream will completely remove the calloused heel. You have to follow a treatment plan that will remove the dead skin cells (that is what is causing the thick calloused area on the heel, and using a cream that penetrates the skin. No cream alone can go beneath the thick calloused part of your heal without removing the dead skin first. But if you following the above treatment, you will heal your heels!

What NOT to do: Use Vaseline. For one, it's a petroleum product . It's known to clog pores, it only stays on the surface and does not penetrate thru multiple skin layers. And two, its not a remewable resource. A cream made with emu oil and shea butter works. Emu Oil is known to have many healing properties AND it penetrates thru multiple layers of skin.

Don't use creams until you know what ingredient in them makes them work. Find ones that will not simply sit on the skin surface. This will have no benefit.

Don't think of it as a life sentence....it only take a few treatments to get rid of the dry cracks. Remember the most important two things.....remove dead skin cells and moisturize with a penetrating cream.

A very helpful guide for causes and treatments can be found at http://www.crackedheelcare.com/crackedhe...
Reply:There is also a product called "Bag Balm" comes in a green can ~ The farmers use it as it heals cracked boobies on the milking cows. Its a great product and much less expensive than probably emu oil . I wear socks over it to bed overnight Report It

Reply:Use Arbonne !!!!Night Cream!!!

Day Cream !!!%26amp; Wash Face with The antiaging Cleansing lotion You will see the difference immediatley also drink lots of water.
Reply:The best lotion I have found has been Oil of Olay Quench for extremely dry skin - works in a day or two. Also Jergens Advanced healing lotion works wonderful. Lotion especially after showering and at nigh lotion your feet then put on a pair of cotton socks. It'll keep the moisture in and in the AM your feel will feel different.

Also get a foot file and file down the dry areas before you lotion. It gives the lotion less areas to have to penetrate and works better.
Reply:You should give yourself a pedicure at least twice a week and scrape away the dead skin with a pumice stone and on the tops of your feet use a loofah sponge. When you are all done, generously apply petroleum jelly to your feet and put on a pair of thick socks to keep your feet soft and smooth.
Reply:At walgreens, get either crack cream, it really works on dry cracked feet, and it's called that, or try goldbond in the orange/yellowish bottle. I've used both.

White bump under penile skin???

so, my young boy (was circ'd almost two yrs ago at birth) gets this white looking bump just under the skin of his penis at the incision line. it eventually gets bigger until it sort of causes a separation (pin hole~as if there is no more room to expand, now it isn't huge or anything) then you can actually press it and thick white stuff comes out. have any of you experienced this. i am thinking that the circ didn't remove enough and it is an accumulation of dead skin cells and smegma. any input?

White bump under penile skin???
WHACK IT OFF WITH A BUTTER KNIFE!
Reply:std i know cause i had it
Reply:Wow, definitely go take him to a doctor about that. That doesn't sound normal.
Reply:The only white stuff that can accumulate under the skin of the penis is as you rightly mentioned SMEGMA. It's natures lubrication for the penis. From your description a lot of foreskin was left uncut during the circumcision. This will encourage smegma to form under it. Wash it off daily when you give him a bath. That's all the treatment it requires. If on the other hand it refuses to disappear try clotrimazole cream an ant-fungal cream this may clear it.
Reply:Take him to the doctor. This too important to rely on the kids who are answering you here!

Flap of skin over tooth?

My young teenage son just cut one of his molars last night and is left with a small flap of skin dangling over it. How long will it take for the skin to shrink or recede back?

Flap of skin over tooth?
well, it would really depend on the size of the "flap", but generally when skin is cut off from it's O2 supply, it will start to die very quickly. couple days or a week and it will be gone, as long as it's not something that's bleeding or constantly reopened (just general mouth movements or by an investigative tongue).

You can rinse with peroxide once or twice to ensure the wound stays clean (will bubble and fizz, don't swallow it obviously...just follow the package lable where it says mouthrinse) It won't "do" anything more than Scope or other beloved mouthrinse, except it won't burn the wound during the cleaning. Would not over use either - once or twice will allow the peroxide to eat away the dead/dying skin without injuring the gum or irritating anything.
Reply:Often these molars with break partially through the skin and then sit there with this partial piece of skin over the back half for 1 day - 1 year or so. Usually it takes about 6 months, commonly, for these to break fully through. It is normal, but you should make sure it stays clean and try and keep him away from certain foods, such as popcorn, sunflower seeds, etc. Small seeds and hulled things can get stuck beneath this tissue and cause an infection. Brush well over this tissue and rinse with hydrogen peroxide before bed. Swish, spit, do not rinse/eat/drink, go to bed. If he does not like the hydrogen peroxide you can mix it 1/2 and 1/2 with another mouthrinse or just use a regular mouthwash. Hydrogen peroxide works the best b/c it bubbles well and will bubble into those small areas under the gums.

Omg! MY SKIN IS PEELING OFF!! AFTER SHOWER!! cancer??????

im young but.. when i come out the shower my foot is wet and it itches when i itch it skin comes off like wtf im realy worried whats wrong with meh!!! my friend said it could be skin cancer!!!!

Omg! MY SKIN IS PEELING OFF!! AFTER SHOWER!! cancer??????
relax. It is NOT skin cancer. its old dead skin cells. they usually come off right when someone gets out of the shower or when your wiping yourself off with a towel. get a good shower scrubbie and some body wash. use lotion when you get out of the shower. its completely normal I promise
Reply:its dead skin. get a heel scraper for inside the shower and it wont happen any more
Reply:This actually sounds like you have athletes foot. This is a foot fungus that can cause issues all over your feet, in between your toes and under your toenails....go to the foot care section at your local grocery or drug store and get some Tiactin spray or cream and follow the instructions. Lots of stores like Walmart or Meijer have their own store brands that are less expensive too. Gold Bond makes a power too. Also make sure you totally dry your feet when you get out of the bath or shower. Wear flip flops in the shower at school after gym class or at the YMCA or pool or other public bathing area...don't share shoes with people. Make sure you rotate shoes and don't wear the same pair of shoes all day every day...give them time to dry out. Athletes foot (fungus) likes everything lots of other fungus' like...warm and moist...so let your feet air out! You'll be OK...but it can be pretty miserable if left untreated.
Reply:get good gloves for the shower or you could even use ur hands and scrub with ur hands

also when your done put lotion all over urself

it is NOTHING to worry about

Is this a skin condition or is it a early sign of breast cancer? help??

sometimes i get a little bit of this flaky skin in my nipples. i know that flaky skin is a sign of breast cancer but its only sometimes and just a little on my nipples. i think im too young to get breast cancer, im 17. I have no other sign of breast cancer, everything seems to be normal. this has happened for years now and i guess ever since i found out about flaky skin and breast cancer, iv worried.

It doesnt itch, there is just flakiness to it sometimes, and its only little.

Anything to worry about?

Is this a skin condition or is it a early sign of breast cancer? help??
I would venture to say if it only happens occassionally then its dry skin. Try using a deep moisture body wash and lotion on them to see if it improves. The material of your bra could be pulling the moisture from your skin, causing the area to dry and flake. So try some lotion first, if it continues, talk to your mom about it and see what she thinks would be best.

Irregular Skin Tone with freckles! Help!!!?

I have redish hair green eyes pale skin and freckles. Because of my freckles my skin tone looks irregular. I dont want to use foundation because its too thick and i dont want to look fake because im so young. Does anyone have any recomemendations for my problem?!

Irregular Skin Tone with freckles! Help!!!?
ALWAYS wear sunscreen. Sun makes your freckles darker (and will make more appear) so if you use sunscreen, your skin tone will even out and become less blotchy.

For a light, overall coverage, use mineral makeup. It's like and looks good on pretty much everyone. You can get Sheer Cover, Bare Minerals, Neutrogena or Physician's Formula.

If you usually tan without any types of lotion or anything, then will you get skin cancer?

Because I always tan without any creams or anything because I am just a kid. I'm only 12 but I never wear sunscreen because I want to get tan. And I never get a sunburn either. But I am still curious and although I might not because I'm young I still want to know what will happen. Like COULD skin cancer occur?

If you usually tan without any types of lotion or anything, then will you get skin cancer?
if you sunbathe without suncream over time it doesnt mean you automatically get skin cancer it just means you are at higher risk. suncream doesnt stop u getting a tan,, it stops the uv rays from harming you. you ca still get a tan with suncream
Reply:you can get skin cancer no matter what type of skin you have or how easily you tan. it doesn't have anything to do with getting sunburn. you can get it no matter what
Reply:Over-Exposure to UV rays, like those from the sun, could increase your chances of getting skin cancer. On the other hand, no exposure to the sun would be bad as well and reduce your body's ability to metabolize Vitamin D, and some other things you need.

Try to limit your exposure by using a good sun blocker while you're outside. The sun that does get through will be enough. Tanning is a uniquely human idea. If you're a vain person who *has* to live up to other people's standards of what you "should look like"...then tanning would seem important to you...I hope you are not one of those people.

Use sun block when outside now and avoid the added chances of getting skin cancer when you're older. People will like you no matter what shade your skin is.

Excess Skin on the breast/Implants-Lift?

My breasts are C (they have been since elementary school). I've had constant weight problems from being on steroids for asthma for three years. I gained 100 pounds. I've lost 30-35 so far. My breasts have always sagged from developing quickly but now they are sagging even worse as I loose weight. They're not going down in size. There's just more skin. I can probably pinch a good two inches of skin off each breast at least. I looked at breast lifts but the scarring isn't worth it in my opinion because I'd need the most extreme kind. Would it be a good idea for me to get breast implants and lift together? I though I'd go to a D/DD (I'm 5'8 so they wouldn't look big on me) I'm not doing this to have bigger breasts. I'd just like to have my breasts stand up more and look normal. Some said I should wait until I'm thirty but I see no good in that. Why would I go my whole young teenage and adult life never being able to show my body? Can you get breast implants @ 16 in NY/CA? Please post info

Excess Skin on the breast/Implants-Lift?
uhh you should probably ask a doctor, but i think you can get surgery in CA well, actually anywhere with a parent's permission, if you have moneymoneymoney.
Reply:#1 At your age, during your weight loss time, try doing upper body exercises. Your skin is young and though you can grab loose skin now it should firm back up.

#2 I am positive you need a parental consent for any procedures since your are not 18.
Reply:I work in surgery....and I do a lot of plastic surgery. I can tell you that the surgeon I work with will say to first give pec exercises 2 years before you determine that they wont work.

Next I can say that instead of implants go for a lift, the surgeon (if they are good) can get rid of excess fat without a lot of scarring.
Reply:Breast implant %26amp; lift surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her breast reduction, tummy tuck and facelift surgery in India by the company called Tour2india4health Consultants .The Price for the surgery she paid in India was very less. She paid 30% of the cost she was quoted in America.

Tour2india4health Consultants is very famous in India. They arrange cosmetic and plastic surgery for foreigners in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low price, as the breast reduction, tummy tuck, facelift and other cosmetic surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

Help!!!! skin problem!?

I am quite young, but when i was ten, i used to scratch very hard and a lot. Even to the point that the skin would break and i would bleed. Then after there was a scab, id do it over again. Now, there are black marks and the skin opens up again by itself even when i dont scratch it. How to fix my problem?

Help!!!! skin problem!?
Your skin is very damaged. Do not scratch the area any more. If you have access to an anti-itch ointment cover the areas with that. Also antibiotic ointment would help out. After a couple of months if the area still splits open you might have to consult a doctor or dermatologist. Good luck with that.
Reply:proactibe it will help your skin problem and p diddy use it
Reply:Well, your problem sound serious ( not THAT serious) maybe you should ask your doctor that question and maybe she/he can help you.
Reply:yeah, NOT ^

black marks? my darling, go visit a dermatologist. you might just need a little bit of special cream and boom, it'll be all gone.
Reply:you still have un-healed scar tissue. So you might want to get that checked out.
Reply:i think you need to go see a doctor. are you talking about your face or just any skin on your body?

Saggy skin?

i have been chubby most of my life and i want to lose about 60 lbs. i am young and i will excercise/drink lots and lots of water. will i have saggy skin? thanks so much!

Saggy skin?
Done in a safe manner there should be no saggy skin but I would recommend checking with your doctor as well to see what they say.

Why, as we age, does our skin get a leathery look to it?

I noticed something recently, when I look at my skin, it is smooth and soft looking, but when I look at my aunts and teachers, a lot of them have this leathery look to it that wasn't there when they were young. Why is that? I also noticed that that "leathery" look is mostly found in caucasians while blacks, asians, and latinos don't seem to have that dry leathery look.

Perfect example:

Brad young: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/co...

Brad Old: leathery skin on neck

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/co...

Why, as we age, does our skin get a leathery look to it?
Caucasians were not meant to live in hot sunny climates. Eg. Tanning is not natural for Caucasians and as you see on the news today, they are paying the price. We all are beautiful in our own way and I really do not understand why white people need to tan.

Protect your skin by staying covered and you will not get that leathery look until you are at least 100 years old.

Wish you a long/non leathery and prosperous life.

ReligiousWeightLoss.com
Reply:Loss of moisture causes the leathery look.

Caucasians have less pigment in their skin to protect them from sun damage.
Reply:It is loosing the elasticity to the skin. Also, people with oily skin during their younger years, will tend to not have this problems as much
Reply:I know for sure that part of it depends on how much sun you get on your face. If you tan more, your skin will wrinkle and get kind of a leathery appearance to it as you get older. Also, I think if you don't moistuize on a regular basis, your skin gets drier more quickly and will have a leathery look to it as well.
Reply:because white people think its cool to be tan or more like a shade of red and try to get as much sun as possible
Reply:depends if you look after it or not....
Reply:its simply the damage of sun exposure without the proper spf or protection to prevent the damage of the sun..start taking control now and use a spf and it doesn't matter what ur race is we all age
Reply:This is exactly why you need to start a skin care program when you are young, and stay out of the sun!! Tanning may be pretty but you will pay for it. The people you talk about probably didn't have a skin care program, or just lived in the sun!! It's really cut when all the loose skin starts sagging don't you think?? Not for me. I cleanse, exfoliate, freshen, moisturize, and protect twice daily..morn and night.
Reply:as we age the redevelopment of cells decreses.

Saggy skin? (PLEASE ANSWER!)?

i have been chubby most of my life and i want to lose about 60 lbs. i am young and i will excercise/drink lots and lots of water. will i have saggy skin? thanks so much!

Saggy skin? (PLEASE ANSWER!)?
Probably not bad...or enough to notice..but you def will have a few stretch marks and maybe a tiny bit of loose skin on your breasts since they are soft skin...but nothin huge and trust me when your a size 4-5-6 you wont care...LOL...i am 5'1 and i was chubby most of my life to...3-4 years ago i decided to change the way i eat forever a life change...and i lost about 40 pounds i dont know exactly cos i never weighed myself when i was bigger ...lol...about 35-40 pounds and even i have a few stretch marks and the skin on my breasts is a little diff then how it ws when my chest is bigger...but its not bad...and its worth it to be 117 pounds and size 6-7...it doesnt even matter to me ....good luck..even if your body has a few marks after you lose the weight you will be so proud and feel so good you wont care trust me !...
Reply:if u exercise and drink a lot of water u shouldnt have a problem
Reply:I work for a plastic surgeon. I operate with her on patients every day. Our bariatric patients have alot more hanging skin with losing 60# because they lose it so quickly and lose the elasticity. IF you diet on your own and lose the weight more slowly you will have a better chance at not being so lose. FYI: Depending on your insurance if you lose 100# and keep it off and stable for a minimum of 6 mths and have rashes and back pain from the hanging skin, your insurance may pay for a tummy tuck. So i hope that helps
Reply:probably not but if you think that you are going to then get a skin firmer and smoother. I used it when i was starting out to work out and it did start to tightin my skin but when i stoped working out and drinking a lot of water it all went back. But I'm going to start out again so good luck.

Saggy skin?
try lifting weight and doing cardio, while eating a well balanced diet of lean protein (eggs, lean beef, skinless chicken, lean pork) and complex carbs (oatmeal, whole grain brown rice) and fresh fruit and veggies. if you lose the weight slowly and tone up as you lose it will help decrease chance of saggy skin. if you are younger your skin has more elasticity. good luck.

Do I look really YOUNG or does everyone else my age just look really old?

I am 35 years old %26amp; constantly told that I look really young. People often think that I'm about 20-23 years old; I'm 5'4", vry petite %26amp; I wear a size 2/3. My friends sometimes give me a hard time because I look so young. I look young, but I do act my age--I am very mature %26amp; responsible. When I hire people to do work on my house, they want to know where my parents are.

When new people come to my office, they usually just assume that I'm the student worker. I look young no matter what I wear or how I wear my hair; I don't have any wrinkles %26amp; I have really clear skin.

People always assume that I am my 12-yr old son's sister or cousin, but never his mom; he is as big as I am now. It has come to the point that I have to introduce myself like this. . .Hello my name is _____, I am 35 years old %26amp; I have a 12 yr old son. People are so shocked, they often gasp outloud.

This has become quite an annoyance. Do I look really look YOUNG or does everyone else my age just look really OLD??

Please do not even think that you look old.... You love too young for what you said was your age. 35??? No, in that photo it seems like 21!!!! Not kidding either. So, relax, you've got nothing to worry about, hey, 35 is not old either!!!!

You look about 25 and are very pretty. Hey..when I was 18 people thought I was 14. 2 years later and people think I'm 25. People change fast so while you got that youthful look, hold onto it. I aged 11 years in 2 years!!
Reply:I have the same problem. Well, i guess it's not a problem, lol.

Ugly Skin..Please Help?//?//?

I am 17 and have I have sort of what I think is ugly skin when I have no makeup on. It goes really red when I cleanse it at night with clean and clear alcohol cleanser. Also I am breaking out lately and its whats makeing my skin look ugly. I am on accutane. Also what can I use to keep it firm, young looking and nice?

Ugly Skin..Please Help?//?//?
The alcohol cleanser is more than likely a significant contributing factor to your skin issues. Are you currently using a toner? Toners work well to balance the pH in your skin mantle which helps fight off bacteria.

You may want to try Arbonne. Our products are:

Botanically based

pH correct

Hypoallergenic

Dermatologist tested

Never tested on animals

Formulated without animal products or by-products

Formulated without mineral oil

Formulated without dyes or chemical fragrances

I am a beauty consultant with Arbonne and I would be happy to share a free sample with you to see if it's something that works well with your skin. You can also visit my website (below) for a really cool tool that helps with makeup tips and virtual tools. Click on the "Feel %26amp; See The Difference" page on my website, then click on fyiarbonne. Great tool!

Reply:Your skin is not happy with the cleanser you are using. It may be irritating your skin and in return, causing break outs. I would find something milder. To brighten your face, try Physician's Formual Brightener. I love it.
Reply:I have this same problem but I recently started using moisturizer and Clean and Clear acne treatment, and this out of everything I've done has seemed to work the best.
Reply:Boy do I know what you're going through. Being on accutane is not fun. It can make your skin sooooo sensitive. You should use the gentlest cleanser possible, something like Cetaphil. Don't use clean%26amp;clear, it is one of the worst cleansers for skin like yours. You can try a benzol peroxide gel at night if it doesn't dry your skin out too much. Otherwise, just be gentle with it, wash with cetaphil when you wake up and before you go to bed, and give the accutane a chance to start working. When I finished my accutane treatment I had complete strangers coming up to me telling me my skin looked so perfect that it looked like it was air-brushed. Of course that only lasts a few weeks and then a lot of people will start getting some pimples again but nowhere NEAR as bad as what they had before.
Reply:umm no use alcohol mask!try to use natural mask like aloe vera mask or cucumber mask?they help to cure reddness..i tht u shld seek and consult nsc doc for help..umm i tht u need acne facial too..u may wan to visit sg website 88db..they have pr0fessional facial salons..orelse i tht u shld try tea tree pr0ducts...they help to cure blemishes..it w0rk f0r me..
Reply:If you are on Accutane, use Aquaphor to keep your skin moist, young, and smooth. It will soothe the skin and irritation while moisturizing it. If it is red, the alcohol cleanser may be irritating you skin. Use a sensitive skin cleanser instead. Witch hazel also works wonders on the skin. Dab a bit on a cotton ball and gently rub it all over your face for smooth skin. It helps soothe and acts as a natural astringent, great for fighting acne.

Steaming your face and then splashing it with cool water helps cleanse your pores, and even brings both blackhead and whiteheads up so that you can gently push the infected pus out with your fingers or some Q-tips.

Tea tree oil work really well on small pimples.

If you have a large, irritating zit, get a regular tablet of aspirin and slightly moisten it with some witch hazel or warm water. Place it on the zit and cover it with a band-aid over night. By morning it should be smaller, less red, and less inflamed.

I wouldn't recommend using toothpaste for zits, it tends to irritate them further, though it can help dry them out.

Also, regular lotions and creams won't help with the dryness that Accutane can cause. If you use a moisturizer or any foundation, make sure it is oil-free.

Hope this helps!
Reply:You need a moe gentle cleansar for your skin. I would try the Velocity cleanser and moisturizer from Mary Kay. This is formulted specially for teenage skin. You don't have to worry too much now about age-prevention, but I'd say by the time you're 20-21 you should switch to an age-fighting skin care regiment. It nevers hurts to start a little early.

Hi Toutounee

Here is an unusual but very effective method to heal many skin issues.

INTRODUCTION TO OIL PULLING ("OP")

REPORTED CURES WITH OIL PULLING:

Mouth %26amp; Gum Disease; Stiff Joints; Allergies; Asthma; Acne, High Blood Sugar; Constipation; Migraines; Bronchitis; Eczema; Heart, Kidney, Lung Diseases; Leukemia; Arthritis; Meningitis; Insomnia; Menopause (hormonal issues); Cancer; AIDS; Chronic Infections; Varicose Veins; High Blood Pressure; Diabetes; Polio; Cracked Heels,.

Here's are a few paragraphs from Bharat Savur's article on The Hindu Business Online

..."When Dr Karsch examined the swished milk-white oil under a microscope with 600 magnification, he saw live organisms swimming in it. It's poisonous, so never swallow it, he warns. These poisons are bacteria-embryos, which, if not eliminated, cause diseases. Apparently, Dr Karsch cured his own chronic blood disease and 15-year-old arthritis.

The first sign of improvement is in the teeth-they become firm and white, he says. Other healing indications: fresh, relaxed feeling on waking up, disappearing dark pouches below the eyes, anew appetite and energy, better memory and deep sleep.

Dr Karsch swears by the mouth oil-wash for anything from organ-disorders, skin-diseases, menstrual problems, paralysis to every ache and it is in the human anatomy. You can swish even when you have fever, he says, adding, it takes anything from two days to a year to cure a disease.

And if these claims sound exaggerated, he told a conference of Ukrainian cancer specialists, try out the process yourself.

Interestingly, Ayurveda advises oil swishing "to purify the taste-buds and the entire system", as explained by Dr Deepak Chopra in Perfect Health.

According to this life science, the tongue is mapped by organ-locations — that is, each section of the tongue is connected to the kidneys, lungs, spleen, liver, heart, pancreas, small intestines, stomach, colon, and spine.

Thus, an oil-mouth-massage soothes and stimulates the key meridians where taste meets organ. Simultaneously, as in any skin-massage, the inner skin and lining of the mouth, palate and tongue become warm and supple and the lubrication prevents dryness (the vatic effect).

In modern dietetics too, dryness is discussed.

For example, lack of Vitamin A (retinal) causes the outer lining of the eyeball to dry and wrinkle, and affects vision.

And as any dietician would tell you, all oils contain 960 micrograms of vitamin A per 10 gm (the recommended daily allowance of vitamin A per adult is 600 micrograms). So, it's possible that oil gargling helps in reaching the required retinal to the eyeballs and keeps them elastic and smooth.

Likewise, the Ayurvedic `purification of taste-buds' also has its equivalent in dietetics as `antioxidants'. Oxidation literally means `the putrefaction of body-tissues'.

And oil-soluble vitamins, A, C, D, and E are antioxidants that protect and prevent the decaying process and help maintain the integral functioning of cell membranes. That's why many people are ingesting vitamin E pills to stem `aging' (oxidation). "

Perhaps try using a less abrasive cleanser and try not to rub hard to remove makeup - the skin is very delicate there, and you need to use care.

Dark circles underneath your eyes are common and usually come from lack of sleep, an unhealthy diet and age.

These things have worked for me, they might work for you.

1. Drink plenty of water and flush out the toxins.

2. Try to eat healthy and eat veges and fruit

3. Exercise - it will make you fit and help you sleep getting rid of the dark circles under your eyes.

4. Consult a dermatologist and find out what skin type you are so you can buy and use the right cleansers, facial cream and makeup for your skin type. Once I found out what skin type I was - the problems I was encountering quickly disappeared.
Reply:Be gentle to your skin and avoid any chemical base creams.

MAJOR skin problem, DEPRESSED!?

pimple, blackheads, pimple scars, huge visible pores, blood from pimple.. gross! im 15. seriously, its making me depressed and its all over the place. ive had flawed skin since yr 6 but this yrs skin is the worst! and its not getting better day by day. ive used stacks of products, went to dermatologists numerous times and its not working! i sleep like a normal teenager, my junk food intake is average, i drink about 7-8 cups of water everyday, and i wash my face morning and night, i dont squeeze my pimples, yeah all that stuff. i am fustrated! and ive had antibiotics (not currently, i stopped mid year last year, been taking it for half a year maybe). and ive tried all kinds of stuff from asian medicines, antibiotics (mentioned), some laos stuff (where you rub some yellow stuff on your face), and i dont see my face getting better! my doctor recommended roaccutane but im too young (only 15) and i heard it would damage your health.

WHAT SHOULD I DO?

MAJOR skin problem, DEPRESSED!?
I was 15 y/o when I first started getting terrible acne, but my doctor advised me to take Keflex (once daily), in combination with medicated face pads %26amp; face wash; however, the biggest secret that I live by is good ol traditional Dial soap.

Grab the big orange bar of soap and wash twice daily and I guarantee that you will see an improvement in a week. I am now 23 and haven't had a bad breakout since I was about 15.

P.S. I've never tried ProActiv, but it did not work for my friend.
Reply:I COMPLETELY FEEL FOR YOU because for most of my life I've had the same embarrassing problem, and it's probably worse since I have darker skin than most people so I've got these horrible dark spots from my acne scars. But I think right now my skin is the best it's been since I can remember so maybe I can help you find a way to fix your problem.

But first I have to point out that lots of teenagers have bad acne because hormones will cause their skin to go all out of balance and so they'll get pimple explosions, and there's not really anything you can do about that.

Otherwise the best advice I think I can give you is that you have to find out what works for you, but experiment with caution. Here are some things you should think about:

You should exfoliate to get rid of the dead skin flakes that usually work with bacteria and dirt to clog pores. Try a gentle exfoliating scrub (the more natural, the better, you never know what kinds of chemicals go into manufactured scrubs); you can even make one at home with sugar, honey, and olive oil, for instance. After a scrub you can usually feel how much softer your skin is.

However a scrub can dry out your face and leave you with some gunk so you have to use some kind of toner! Apply it to a cotton ball and smooth gently over your face and neck. If you see brownish residue stuck to the cotton ball, you know it's working.

And finally, all of that will have dried out your face, so you need to put on moisturizer! Anything oil-free is good, with sunscreen. At night I actually just use a thin layer of olive oil, which surprisingly does not make me break out, and makes my skin softer. If this doesn't sound appealing you can always look for other products (I really like Neutrogena healthy defense).

You might want to try Proactiv but the regimen I just outlined for you is essentially what you get when you buy Proactiv. They give you a mildly exfoliating-type cleanser, a bottle of toner (which always runs out), and a repairing lotion with salicylic acid to control acne. I was on it for a while and it cleared up my skin but it was so expensive that I stopped. Right now I use Neutrogena Cream Cleanser in the morning, and at night, St. Ives apricot scrub, Neutrogena pore-refining toner, and Neutrogena Healthy Defense, and my skin has really cleared up.

It's all about tackling the bases: make sure everything you do doesn't overdry or clog your face up; for example, using regular bar soap will dry out your face, as will washing too much. If you scrub or use a drying toner, make sure you moisturize. Balance it out!
Reply:If your skin is affecting your life this much, then Accutane is the almost certainly appropriate drug for you. I was on it four times -- which is very unusual -- once or twice is enough for most people. A *very* small number of people have major problems with Accutane, but most patients consider it to be a "miracle drug" for their acne. It really is the most effective drug available for severe, treatment-resistant acne. You are not "too young" for Accutane; if you have severe acne, you are a candidate for treatment, and most people who take it are in their middle-teen years. Most Accutane patients only suffer the most common symptoms: very dry skin, chapped lips, some dry eyes and dry nose, and sometimes fatigue and headache. Most of the people who complain so much about their experience with Accutane didn't actually have severe acne; they only had mild-to-moderate acne and probably should have been given another treatment. In your case, you have exhausted the other possible options.

As you have already experienced, dietary changes, lifestyle modifications, and "folk remedies" have very little effect on truly severe acne. You have to ask yourself: are the usually very temporary and mostly manageable side effects of Accutane worth the potential result of clear, acne-free skin and the relief from anxiety that it would provide? The stress and emotional strain of depression are likely taking a greater toll on your health than Accutane could. Use the guide from WebMD below to help determine whether Accutane is right for you. I wish I'd taken it sooner; I don't have many scars, but I wouldn't have the ones I do if I'd taken it before I did.

Reply:Firstly using substances derived from vitamin A like retin-a or tazarotene, to reduce inflammation of the skin and to unplug pores. Retin-A can cause skin reddening at first but this is quite normal as the skin's blood supply is improved and younger looking skin begins to appear presenting a youthful complexion. Using a product that includes zinc will also help the vitamin a function better.

When losing a lot of weight how to avoid loose skin?

I am starting some type of a weight loss plan that I can live with- not sure just what yet. I do know that I am giving myself until February 2009 to hopefully see my end results- or VERY close to them. I have a lot of weight to lose- based on the BMI I need to lose around 155 pounds... so around 11-12 pounds a month on average. On major concern I have is I am wanting to avoid the extreme loose skin that I see a lot of people have. I am young (25) and hope that might help somehow. What can I do to avoid this? Also, any really great exercises I can do? I have like NO time, I work 2 jobs and live in a town that has no fitness centers- a town of about 800- closest city is almost an hour away, so I will not buy a membership. I will feel embarrassed walking around town, as people will watch- but I need to suck it up I guess. Anything I can do in the house that is awesome??? Any words of wisdom from someone who has done this?? Anything will help! Thank you!

When losing a lot of weight how to avoid loose skin?
All I know is if you lose it slowly like 2 pounds a week and do a little bit of strength training or light weights to tone up or tighten your skin you should have no problem with loose skin.
Reply:i heard eating soy increases the elasticity in your skin. you should eat some soy milk, soy bars, and tofu...maybe some lotion with soy extract in it. la weight loss has really good bars and the calories aren't that bad.

Is it extra skin or still fat?

I think it may be extra skin because I lost 55 pounds from 235 to 180..and I weight lift and run 5 miles a day so I thinkt hat I shouldnt have any more fat on my body...I think it may not be because I am only 20 yrs old, so I am young, and ppl have lost more weight than me and haven't had left over skin...But...I am skinny everywhere except on my midsection, especially below my belly button, and a little fat on my chest...should I get a consultation for lipo or a tummy tuck?

Is it extra skin or still fat?
It depends how fast you lost your weight (congradulations on that btw). If you lost it really quickly - like within a few months - then you haven't given your skin enough time to "shrink." The leftover skin should disappear in the next few months if you continue to keep fit and work out. Abdominal workouts in particular might help, I think. Since you're young, you shouldn't consider plastic surgery for this just yet. Give it some time and the excess skin should disappear.
Reply:it is extra skin and i would only consult if it's really hanging off and noticeable but if you can live with it then you'll save some money
Reply:the fat below the belly button is a pain the ***.just do crutches, sit ups.it will work.
Reply:how in the hell and why in the hell would you take the advice of people who have never seen you and do not know you at all? I know you said you are 20 years old but are you also stupid? hummm yeah I think so.
Reply:get check with a GOOD doctor and see if you're a candidate for surgery

How should I care for my skin?

I'm 29 and I read that women in their 20's should start to use anti-aging products on their faces. What are some good skin care products to use on my face to keep it looking young?

How should I care for my skin?
Wash your face every night to remove make-up, dirt, etc. then apply night cream. During the day, be sure to use a lotion with at least an SPF 15 and an eye cream and don't go too heavy on the make-up. Neutrogena, Olay and Avon have nice and well priced skin care lines for all ages and skin types. Sample a few until you find one that best suits you.
Reply:Thanks to everyone who gave me an answer! I really appreciated all of them! Report It

Reply:oil of o`lay or aveeno
Reply:Use something from Bath%26amp;Body works. If you go in there and ask for anti-aging creams, they will reccommend some. However, these are very expensive. If you are not willing to pay that much, go to a cheaper store, and buy a good moisturizer. When you really start to show signs of aging, you should splurge.
Reply:I used to be a strict Almay skin care user. But then, I had my first facial and they used, Dermalogical. I have very sensitive skin, and it works great, feels great, but is a little pricey. I am 32, and this is what I will use forever.

I start by washing, then I use a ultra calming toner, then I still use the Almay anti-aging eye cream, then I finish with the barrier lotion.

Best of luck.
Reply:Believe it or not, Get yourself a box of Arm %26amp; Hammer baking soda, put a half cup of it in a warm tub of water and soak. Helps condition skin, leaving it feeling naturally soft and smooth and clean. Says so right on the box. It is also an excelent facial exfoliant!
Reply:you should start now since u'll be hitting 30 next year. Visit any well known brand counter n check on their anti aging products. Some of them consist of other benefits too like whitening, lifting, bla bla bla...every brand offers different formulas...

If i can recommend, try Clinique or Lancome. They offer skin care range that suits every age.
Reply:I am 29 yrs old and have been dealing with the same thing. I realized after many purchases and returns of expensive creams, that Mary Kay and Nivea are the best products for me. I also discovered Basis bar soap. Its non irritating and I use it for face and body. Its moisturizing and gentle on my sensitive skin. For anti-aging, SPF is the biggest thing to use. I found that Mary Kay and Nivea have moisturizers that have an SPF in them and these are the product lines that I use, also an eye cream is very important.

Also,I dont tan like I use to, and I use a cream lotion when I am out in the sun with an SPF in it and I get a gradual nice glowing tan. I use to fry myself with baby oil when I was younger, not anymore. These are jusy some products I use and tips that work for me.

Agian, I have tried some of these expensive anti-aging creams and just ended up returning them. For me Mary Kay, and Nivea are classic products that dont irritate my skin and my mom has used Nivea for years and has wonderful skin.

Best Wishes
Reply:First of all, you need protection, so wear SUNSCREEN.

It's one of the best things you could do for your skin besides keeping it hydrated.

As for other products, Oil of Olay is a great line.

Then,

get some botox, your body will adjust to it naturally after 2 treatments; they will pick up the composition of the botox and make your skin wrinkleless and young. Yes, Botox works by paralyzing your face (temporarily), but it also has many theraputic effects and lifetime benefits afterwards.

research is on its way to show that as well.
Reply:I'm 27 and just started using anti aging products last year. If I would have known then what I know now, I would have started sooner. Arbonne has an awesome anti aging system, NutriMinC Re9.

I started using their revolutionary anti-aging system (hydrating wash, balancing toner, facial serum, transforming lift, corrective eye cream, day crème, and night crème) last year and absolutely love it! It is specifically formulated to reduce the affects of sun damage, decrease fine lines and wrinkles, while it works to combat the visual signs of aging. The system consists of botanically based products that contain natural collagens (hyaluronic acid), giving your skin a natural lift and others to deeply condition and hydrate your skin. They're all pure, safe, beneficial, hypoallergenic, dermatologist tested, and formulated without alcohol, wax, dyes, chemicals, fragrances, acetone, or mineral oil which makes them perfect for all skin types. They're unlike any others on the market as they are formulated in Switerland and made with all 9 KEY anti-aging elements (KOJIC ACID, NANOSPHERES, COPPER, VITAMIN C, ALPHA %26amp; BETA HYDROXY ACIDS, PEPTIDES, BIO-HYDRIA, ELHIBIN %26amp; STIMUTEX, and ALPHA LIPOIC ACID), giving you maximum benefit.

Their products are also formulated with nanosphere technology which makes them beneficial for all skin types and adjusts to your skins specific needs by applying more moisture in dry areas and less is oily areas. Research shows that 6 months continued use of this system will give a 68% decrease in DEEP density lines and wrinkles; however I started to notice results within a week or two.

Arbonne even has products for your entire body including a hydrating body wash, body serum, hydrating body lotion, and essential fatty acid dietary supplement, a concentrated blend of flaxseed oil, CoQ10 and beneficial elements to support younger-looking skin and good health ... from the inside, out ... and formulated in a vegetarian capsule. It's made of Flaxseed oil, vitamins A, C, E, Coenzyme Q10, alpha lipoic acid. I love the NutriMinC Re9 Anti-Aging Body Serum and Hydrating Body Lotion.

Skin problem! depressed.?

pimple, blackheads, pimple scars, huge visible pores, blood from pimple.. gross! im 15. seriously, its making me depressed and its all over the place. ive had flawed skin since yr 6 but this yrs skin is the worst! and its not getting better day by day. ive used stacks of products, went to dermatologists numerous times and its not working! i sleep like a normal teenager, my junk food intake is average, i drink about 7-8 cups of water everyday, and i wash my face morning and night, i dont squeeze my pimples, yeah all that stuff. i am fustrated! and ive had antibiotics (not currently, i stopped mid year last year, been taking it for half a year maybe). and ive tried all kinds of stuff from asian medicines, antibiotics (mentioned), some laos stuff (where you rub some yellow stuff on your face), and i dont see my face getting better! my doctor recommended roaccutane but im too young (only 15) and i heard it would damage your health.

WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Skin problem! depressed.?
Okay, first of all, i really doubt you look discusting. You need to be confident of yourself. Every body has skin problems, but you can't put yourself down. You should try ProActive, or clean and clear, or cliniqe soaps. that's what i use. Good Luck =]
Reply:It sounds like you're going through what millions of teens do: acne. It comes with puberty and with any luck it'll ease in time.

I have heard wonderful things about Proactiv and suggest you at least give it a shot if nothing else has had any effect.
Reply:You've already done all those chemicals and they didn't work. ProActiv is just like anything else with benzoyl peroxide. There's no difference, it's not going to work...and it's going to increase your risk of skin cancer...

You might want to consider a natural, more gentle, alternative. Click my picture, click the link under 'free natural acne routine'. It's a gentle routine that helps improve the health of your skin so it can repel the bad and not break out as much. All those products are probably making your problem worse. There's a list of chemicals commonly in body care products that are known contact allergens and increase acne symptoms. You might want to go check it out to see if any of those ingredients are in any of your products so you can know what to avoid.
Reply:you arnt the only one out there I feel you. proactive works for some but others maybe not.

Reply:“If you can not eat it, don't apply it on your skin”. This is our mantra. The skin, being a porous organ of the body, tends to absorb everything applied it. All natural, unprocessed Tea seed oil is Gods gift, blessing and treasure for human consumption internally for eating and externally to use for body care. It is available at very affordable prices (Lower than most base oils).

Up until the early 20th century, the vast majority of cosmetics and body care products were only manufactured using natural sources such as plant roots, barks and leaves. The explosion of petroleum byproducts in the mid 20th century enabled industries to abandon natural ingredients in favour of synthetic materials, due to greater availability and cost considerations. Most petrochemicals break down the collagen in the skin, and many of the preservatives used in such synthetic cosmetics are known carcinogens. Today, most industries only use insignificant traces of natural products, for promotional purposes.

Tea seed oil (also known as tea oil or camellia oil) is cold-pressed from the seeds of the camellia oleifera tea plant. This is the same plant family from which come the finest teas that we drink.

Visit the Wikipedia at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tea_oil to get an independent opinion about the benefits of this all purpose oil and comparisons with other oils. Tea seed oil's health benefits already establish it as the healthiest cooking oil in the world.

Tea seed oil is an ideal product for direct use on the body as well as an ingredient in body care products and cosmetics. In fact, tea seed oil (the “olive oil of the orient”) has been used topically and as a food in China for over 2,000 years, ever since the days of the Nansong dynasty.

Tea seed oil is an all purpose oil that is also used in salad dressings, dips, marinades, baking, sauces, sautéing, stir frying and frying. It can be found in grocery stores, health food stores, restaurants, spas, and medical clinics.

The benefits of our tea seed oil include:

- Excellent source of Vitamin E antioxidants (15% of RDI per serving).

Tail problems in young cornsnake....what do i do??

My corn snake is young, i have had him for about 2 months (he is 16 inches long). he shed shortly after i bought him, but it wasn't a whole skin. i had to give him a warm bath to help him shed several remaining pieces. at that time i checked to make sure that there was no skin on the tip of his tail. because i herd that if the skin stays there his tail could die. Then only a few days ago i came home and he had shed one clean entire piece of skin. (he showed no signs of shedding before hand). then a day later i was holding him and i noticed that his tail looks a little funny. the very tip. (not even a whole inch). its stiff with no pigment. and there is a little blood. what should i do?

Tail problems in young cornsnake....what do i do??
Try soaking him in luke warm water and make sure that he has indeed shedded his skin on his tail the last time he shed. If there is blood and no pigment, this sounds as though there was some skin left, which caused loss of circulation in the tail and will cause the tail to literally die. You should have him examined by a vet who specializes in herps just to be safe.
Reply:hmm im not too sure but when i first bought my snake, my dad accidentally ran over his tail with a wheely chair. his tail was a bit awkward for a few sheds and he didnt shed any skin of his tail but he has recovered quite well and he now sheds skin from the tail again.

so i think that maybe your snakes tail has been injured by something, maybe just take your snake to a vet so they can check if any bones are broken.

Problem with Skin Underneath the Eyes??

I am only a college student and I have small puffy bags underneath my eyes. Also, the skin there is very loose. If I pinch the skin, it doesn't feel firm... it just bunches up a little and takes longer than it should to fall back into place. This happens even when I get enough sleep for long periods of time. Is this normal for a young person? Also, what can I do to fix the problem? I don't want to use anything that will make me break out since I have oily skin, but I don't want to dry out my skin either.

Problem with Skin Underneath the Eyes??
Sounds like the skin is dry. Even though you have oily skin you still need to use a moisturizer.

Find one for undereye care.

Could my skin have changed?

I really am stumped as to what is making my skin breakout so bad for the past few months. I'm 17 so I'm still young, but I'm past puberty and all grown so I don't see how it could be that. Basically aside from maybe when I was 13 and got more breakouts from changing hormones, for YEARS I have had really great skin, occasional pms pimple but other then that just fantastic, I even have modeled. I would wash my face in the morning, put benzoyl peroxide on, then moisterizer and at night the same only with a scrub instead and the occasional face mask. Well with absolutely no change about 6 months ago it started with one bad break out and I feel like I've been battling them ever since! It was small little bumps on my cheeks and now I have them on my chin and forehead too! And some get all red others just seem to disapear and I've noticed my skin is oiler during the day, but very flaky or rough sometimes? My Dad has acne and so did my brother, but not my mom. Can anyone help me?

Could my skin have changed?
Well first of all do you wear foundation? some foundations tend to clog pores and make people break out. I use to wear mac makeup and I stopped becuase I heard it was bad for you and I use this oil free non comegneic foundation and my skin has been great!. What do you scrub your face with? my mom is a make up artist and she said that if you scrub your face with a sponge it takes all your natural oils off your skin and that causes break outs. Also when you use a face mask just read the ingedients and be careful it doesnt have perfume or fragrance. Those are bad for your skin. One last thing is if your skin is dry and flaky I recommend Aloe Vera, your skin is probably just dry and flaky because of the season(winter). Make sure its First aid Aloe Vera (trust me it really helps!! its better then expensive moisturizers).

Hope I helped:)%26lt;3
Reply:yes...notice how you're female and hormones do us in, at every turn...so when you're 40-50 let me know how you like acne then. I didn't have it as a teenager, but when I turned 45 my face broke out and I'm now 53 and STILL have acne...and I use prescription stuff from the dermatologist...
Reply:I had a severe problem with acne throughout my teenage years and even after I turned 20.

Someone then told me to go to a Chinese herbalist and they prescribed me a range of herbs which clears out toxins from your body.

The herbs tastes very bad, but it is worth it. My skin problem have gone away completely and it has not returned at all for more than a year by now my skin is still beautiful and clear.

You could try Chinese detox tea of any kind, but you have to strictly follow the directions and persist, don't just give it up because you don't see results in a week's time.

Don't go for any other type of detox, it has to be Chinese herbs, they work wonders.

Toxins in your body cause you to have acne because it's your body's way of trying to expel the toxins.

Toxins are caused by the food we eat and also our environment.
Reply:Your skin responds to all sorts of things, including weather, skin care products, your diet and hormone changes.

As for being "all grown", your body isn't changing much on the outside, but at 17 you are still maturing inside where you can't see it, and your endocrine system is still developing. That is the most likely reason for your outbreaks.

Another possibility is that it's a reaction to something you are using on your face. I'd see a dermatologist and get some recommendations for some fragrance-free, non-pore-clogging, petroleum free skin care products. Cetaphil is a good one to start with.

Best of luck.
Reply:becoz u sed dat ur skin is dry in places n oily it seems to me that ur skin products are not right for skin anymore!! ur skin is dry from the scrubs bcos i have had this same problem from using a neutrogena scrub. my skin was soooooooo oily from this n my mum told me to stop using the scrub, it took bout two weeks but my skin wasnt oily any more n my spots cleared up. iv neva had acne either n my problems started wen i used dat scrub just to maintain a good complexion!! but i won't use anything on my skin now!! just try it and i gurantee u will see a difference but give it sum time coz ur skin is over producing oils now coz of the products stripping ur skin!! good luck
